To help eliminate the need for rotating scheduled blackouts, Shibuya has gone dark. The billboards were all dark and many of the building lights were off. Believe it or not, this is about half the usual brightness level.

Finding flags from other countries all over fashion isn't uncommon in Japan. It's not too often you find cars with them though. I wonder if this car belongs to someone Japanese or English.

The last day at my old office building, so here's a parking structure near the old building. Apparently they needed to vent the building (and possibly temperature control too) so they built a large fan system on the outside. Due to space constraints, it is very flat.

Went hiking in Yamanashi today. We saw Mount Fuji from the summit of another [much shorter] mountain, drank spring water and saw the changing leaves.
After descending we went to see Saruhashi, one of the three most famous bridges in Japan (with Kintaikyo in Yamaguchi and Shinkyo in Tochigi). You can't see the fabulous construction of the bridge from this photo, but the trees make up for it.

Vending machines are often very bright, like this Yamanote line station vending machine. Most of the drinks in this photo are yummy. Except the coffees...but I'm biased against all coffee.

Kami-Kumagaya station is so small it only has one platform for trains going in either direction. It also doesn't have a ticket gate. Instead of putting your ticket in a machine you buy the ticket from the ticket machine and hand it to the station attendant when you leave the station (show it when you enter).
This is mind-blowing because even at the stations without attendants, the stations closer to Tokyo (such as on the JR Nikko line) have a suica swiper at the entrance. This line isn't suica (IC card) compatible...which is completely amazing. I am mesmerized by the anti-tech.
EDIT: I say closer to Tokyo but I suppose the Nikko line isn't. But it's JR and that makes a difference.

Akihabara (Akiba) really does have everything. If you wanna pretend to be a maid or...naked you can.
Went to Akiba to buy a new camera. Hopefully tomorrow's photo will be taken with my new Nikon D40. There are a few shots I've been trying to take for weeks and haven't had success because of my camera's limitations. I might need a telephoto lens to reach one of them but we'll see. In any case the camera was past due.
